The existence of non-public high schools has sparked the debate of its benefits and drawbacks. I believe even though the downside of attending such schools is unavoidable, most students will benefit from attending private secondary schools because of their high-quality facilities and teachers.
Students receive better education in a better environment in a private secondary school. The purpose of private high schools is solely to provide quality education to accommodate the needs of a particular group of people, usually the children of the rich and dignitaries. Unlike the public schools, which are usually funded by the government, the private schools rely on the financial supports exclusively from parents. Therefore, private education institutions are more pressured to provide higher quality service to their customers, including more spacious and modernized classrooms and facilities, comfortable living conditions, highly qualified teachers, and stricter management and some other customized services. Students who study in such environment are more likely to succeed in their study than their peers who sit in public school classrooms.
However, the downside of attending private schools should not be ignored. As the tuition and fees incurred at private schools are usually absurdly high, it may exert a heavy burden on the parents, exhausting their financial means. The same is true with the children who attend such schools. As most student attending private schools are from wealthy background, those who are from less-privileged family background may feel stressful or a sense of inferiority as they cannot afford things their classmate own. This can be avoided, however, through the guidance and cultivation of correct values and world outlook by their high-quality teachers. And the private schools are more willing to take measures to minimize those negative effects.
In summary, despite the minor problems private schools may generate, I am convinced that students can receive a better education in a private secondary school which emphasizes on improving their teaching quality and providing good service for students.
